Walk-through before you start, checks before you leave

Two minutes at the start and two at the end prevent almost every complaint.

When you arrive

  1. Say hello and introduce yourself. Ask if there's anything they'd like you to focus on.

  2. Walk through the home. Compare it with the booking — number of bedrooms and bathrooms, the service booked, the extras listed.

  3. Look for problems before you touch anything. Damage or broken items: photograph them and report Damage before I started (see Something is broken). Much dirtier or more cluttered than described: Need help? → Home in Bad Condition, with photos. Anything unsafe (mould, animal waste, pests, hazards): don't clean it, report it, and call 1300 009 363.

  4. If the home is bigger or dirtier than the booking, don't just start. Use Request More Time (see Need more time on a job) so the extra time is approved and paid.

Once you start cleaning you're committed to finishing the checklist, so sort out mismatches first.

Before you leave

  • Walk the home with the customer if they're there; if not, do a final check yourself against Your Tasks.

  • Everything dry, everything back where it was, lights and stove off.

  • Windows, balcony doors and back doors closed and locked.

  • Follow the customer's lock-up instructions in the booking notes.

  • Check you've packed all your gear.

  • Then Slide to Complete Job.

Never leave a home unsecured.
